Multi-Disciplinary Optimisation of Road Vehicle Chassis Subsystems

Two vehicle chassis design tasks were solved by decomposition-based multi-disciplinary optimisation (MDO) methods, namely collaborative (CO) and analytical target cascading (ATC). A passive suspension system was optimised applying both CO ATC. Multiple parameters of the spring damper selected as variables. The discomfort, road holding, total mass spring–damper combination objective functions. An electric (EV) powertrain problem considered second test case. Energy consumption gradeability including motor battery pack layout. standard single-level all-in-one (AiO) multi-objective method compared with ATC methods. AiO methods showed some limitations in terms efficiency accuracy. proved to be best choice for problems presented this paper, since it provided solutions good accuracy a very efficient way. proposed investigation on MDO can useful designers, choose proper approach, while solving complex problems.
